Long before TAJ Collezione became a name for contemporary heirlooms, Thomas A. Johnson was known for more than craftsmanship. He was known for vision. As the founder of Thomas A. Johnson Furniture Company in Lynchburg, Virginia, Thomas created furniture by hand and planned something ambitious: a woodworking school that would train future makers in the art of timeless craftsmanship.
The original “school plans” were more than sketches. They represented a belief that furniture should be taught as a true craft. Precision joinery. Natural materials. Designs meant to live for generations. Those early blueprints now serve as a reminder of where TAJ Collezione began — with talent, tradition, and the courage to build something that lasts.
